Points to note are:

• During 2010/11 the JAC ran 21 exercises and all of them were completed by the date agreed with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
• The JAC handled a 50% increase of applications and made over 50% more recommendations.
• This was against the background of a 10% reduction in funding.
• Staff numbers reduced from 105 at 31 March 2010 to 77 by 31 March 2011 (down 27%).
• The JAC received few (32) complaints out of almost 4,700 applications. Since the JAC was set up only around 1% of applications have led to a complaint.
• Official Statistics (published in December and June) showed two of the successful High Court candidates were women and two were BME and the first ILEX judge was appointed.
• The JAC and MoJ published joint ten year analyses of women, black and minority ethnic (BME) lawyer and solicitor judicial appointments.
• The JAC now uses Twitter (@becomeajudge), LinkedIn and Facebook.
