Data Sharing Consultation

The JAC seeks views on whether it should ask candidates for judicial office for their consent to share personal data about them with the Ministry of Justice, Judicial Office, and Tribunals Judicial Office.

The data in question is the diversity data it collects from its Application Monitoring Form; consent would be positive and would be sought at the time of filling in the form by means of a tick box on the form itself. The purpose of sharing this data would be to create a robust and consistent dataset of judicial diversity that can be used by all the bodies concerned for statistical and research purposes.

The consultation paper can be accessed here.

The consultation is being run by Ben Elton, Head of Equality and Fair Treatment at the JAC. He would be pleased to receive your response by 28 May 2010.
