Date: 24 March 2010

The Ministry of Justice announced today that as part of its efficiency programme, there will be a review of the end to end judicial appointments process - from identifying vacancies, to the Lord Chancellor agreeing the JAC's recommendations and the allocation of the successful candidates to specific posts, to ensure all stages deliver a high quality service and value for money.

It is absolutely right that all public spending is examined and justified and that the whole judicial appointments process including the JAC's part should be included in that scrutiny.
