The JAC is committed to testing as its principal method of shortlisting candidates in an objective and open way. We are working towards moving all tests online. Candidates have told us they want this to provide improved anonymity when applying for judicial roles and to enable them to sit the tests at a convenient time and location. Additional benefits will include improved speed and cost effectiveness of selection processes.

For this exercise, you will be expected to take the test online and this is in accordance with the Government's strategy of 'digital by default'. You can request reasonable adjustments to ensure you can participate in the selection process fairly. The test will be designed to assess knowledge of dealing with victims of violent crime. It will consist of both multiple choice questions and questions based on a scenario set in the criminal injuries compensation jurisdiction. You will be provided with relevant reference material in advance of the test and will be required to analyse the information, identify issues and make reasoned decisions for each of the questions posed.

All applicants will be invited to undertake the test online. You will be able to complete it on your own computer when it is convenient for you, within a set time period. More details will be provided soon.
