00365: Valuation Tribunal for England Part-time Salaried President 2008

The Judicial Appointments Commission invites applications for the position of Valuation Tribunal President for England. This is a part-time post, working an average of 3 days per week depending on the operational needs of the Tribunal, and offers a salary of £106,812 pro-rata. You will be based in London or one of the other 11 Valuation Tribunal Service offices in England. Frequent travel to London will be required for those based elsewhere.

The Valuation Tribunal will hear appeals in England against decisions relating to council tax and business rates. As judicial head of the Tribunal, the President's post provides an exciting and challenging opportunity to set the direction and performance of the new Valuation Tribunal for England. The role will involve sustaining and enhancing public confidence, leading and inspiring a volunteer workforce, strengthening judicial independence and promoting effective working partnerships with others. The President will also be a member of the Valuation Tribunal Service Board. This appointment is for a minimum of five years.
