
The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) is inviting applications for the post of Salaried Legal Member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal (MHRT). This is the first time this post has been advertised as a salaried position.
There are a number of immediate vacancies in both the Northern and Southern regions as well as further vacancies to be filled in the near future.
This is challenging and sensitive work, which not only directly affects the lives of individuals, but can also have significant public safety implications. The Tribunals hear cases about people detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. These Tribunals normally sit in private and take place in the hospital or community unit where the patient is detained.
As Salaried Legal Member you will play a full role in the case management of all cases allocated to you. You will also participate in a wide range of judicial activities such as development and leadership of the MHRT members' training programme and stakeholder engagement.
