
Qualifying Test Feedback Report now available

The comments we receive from candidates following qualifying test is that they would welcome some feedback so that they can use it to develop and be more successful if they decide to apply again for judicial appointment.
While the sheer number of applications we receive means that we cannot provide individual feedback following a qualifying test, we have decided to publish a Qualifying Test Feedback Report for candidates in the Recorder (Civil) qualifying test and will consider doing this for future exercises.

It is our current expectation that the Judicial Appointments Commission will be posting outcome letters to candidates in the week ending 5 February. Please note that we are not able to notify qualifying test results over the telephone or by e-mail, or provide individual feedback. If a candidate has not received their notification of result by 12 February, they should contact us on 020 3334 0481 immediately.
For those candidates that are invited to the second stage Selection Day, the Commission expects to write to their referees to request references during the week ending 5 February.

The Judicial Appointments Commission is inviting applications for the office of Recorder in the Civil jurisdiction. There are 40 vacancies.These are fee paid posts and there is no minimum sitting requirement. You will be required to prepare cases for trial and preside over hearings in county courts. Candidates who are successful may be considered for authorisation to sit as Deputy High Court Judges in the Chancery and Queen's Bench Divisions of the High Court and sit in the Royal Courts of Justice or county courts (specialist civil jurisdiction).
