President of the Residential Property Tribunal Wales

The JAC has been asked to identify a candidate to recommend for the post of President of the Residential Property Tribunal Wales (RPT Wales). This exercise is due to launch at 13:00 on Tuesday 25 April.

The RPT Wales is the collective term for certain tribunals dealing with housing disputes. It is made up of:

  • Rent Assessment Committees
  • Leasehold Valuation Tribunals
  • Residential Property Tribunals

The tribunal president is the judicial lead of the RPT Wales, responsible for its members and for tribunal decisions. Members of the tribunal include lawyer chairpersons, professional members and lay members.

By statute, only lawyer chairpersons of the RPT Wales can apply for this post.

Throughout the exercise you will be assessed against the competency framework for the role of Fee-Paid President of the Residential Property Tribunal for Wales. The competencies are aligned to the Judicial Skills and Abilities framework used by Judicial Office and Judicial College, and gives examples of the ways in which a person demonstrates the required skills and abilities when working effectively in post.
