The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) is advertising for six Court of Appeal judges:
Notification of Intent to apply: 13:00 on 24 February 2017

Location: RCJ London
Salary: £204,695 per annum (NB this is the current 2017 rate as 2017 salary figures have not yet been published).
The Court of Appeal 2017 selection exercise is now open for application.
The Court is looking for six judges of outstanding ability to replace members of the court who are retiring between September 2017 and March 2018. It will be advantageous for candidates to have expertise in one or more of the following - criminal law, Chancery or commercial law, public law (especially immigration and asylum law), employment law, technology and construction law, planning law and family law – but there is no guarantee that a candidate with one of those specialisms will be appointed.
The three criteria for appointment, against which candidates will be assessed, are:
- To be outstanding lawyers;
- To be able to work efficiently and effectively in and out of court and write excellent judgments expeditiously;
- To be able to work well with colleagues and court staff.
Some candidates will additionally be expected to show an ability to take on leadership roles.
Notifications of Intent to Apply for the Court of Appeal are required by 13:00 on 24 February 2017 with completed applications to be submitted by 13:00 on 6 March 2017.
Interviews will take place on 22, 23, 24 and 26 May 2017.
